Testwiki:Property proposal/number of shows
- Motivation
This property could be used for events such as concert tours and theatrical productions in general (operas, ballets, plays...). Αππο (talk) 19:41, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

- Template:S for concert tours as items for them exist, Template:O for theatrical productions (unless you wish to argue that each run of a particular play in a particular place deserves its own item). Mahir256 (talk) 07:53, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

- Template:S Makes sense. I would also ask if this could be for sports seasons/articles about events in a specific year (like: Q28129237, Q28128292, Q29101122). Number of matches played doesn't suit those. I was looking to propose number of events or number of shows property myself and found this.ShadessKB (talk) 17:42, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

- Template:PingThanks for making it. Any chance this could be extended to covering sports? Or I guess any well definable number of events/shows? A year in UFC as an example (Q28128292). The wikipedia page lists total events at 39 for them that year. There is currently no property to use for listing something like that, as far as I know. I don't really see any reason for making another property just for sports when this could be used. But I also don't want to go and edit it on my own without asking others if it makes sense! :) ShadessKB (talk) 11:14, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- It makes sense to make this as general as it can be, but I am not quite sure about things like Template:Q - it's not clear to me that the various games would be all "representations" of the same sort of event (arguably the matches can be quite different, belong to various leagues, and so on)… But I am not familiar with these domains. This is a good place to discuss that (feel free to ping other editors who commented in this discussion). − Pintoch (talk) 11:24, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I guess it would work for anything where we have an item for an "event type" and want to indicate the number of single events that took place. The present terminology does however refer more to the performing arts than to sports. In fact, in the field of theatre, the "event type" is considered to be a work of art in its own right, which means that credits are given to the people involved in the creation of the "event type". I believe that in most fields of sport you would think quite differently about these things and therefore probably also model them differently. --Beat Estermann (talk) 16:05, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
